Shinobi IT was tasked with designing a Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery strategy for the 1102 Grand carrier hotel on behalf of BARR Assurance & Advisory, Inc.
BARR Assurance & Advisory, Inc is a CPA firm that performs SOC/SSAE 16, HIPAA, and other related compliance reporting. 1102 GRAND is the largest carrier neutral facility in the Kansas City area and one of the fastest growing of its kind in the Midwest, serving as a major hub for voice and data traffic in the region.
1102 Grand requested a Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery document to serve as both their internal guide for BCDR, and as a customer-facing document. BARR Advisory, while experienced with this sort of work, wanted a dedicated IT management professional to complete the document. Shinobi IT was given a strict budget and timeline for the project.
How we helped:
Shinobi IT’s president Kyle Nash, a 20 year IT veteran with 15 years of IT management experience, worked with BARR Advisory personally to complete this project. Kyle attended a customer-facing project kickoff meeting during which 1102 Grand and BARR advisory scoped out several requirements for the BCDR plan, as well as other regulatory compliance concerns. Working with the client, Kyle assembled a list of documents and information that would be required to progress the project.
While the prerequisite customer information was being gathered, Kyle reviewed multiple BCDR templates provided by BARR Advisory as well as previous BCDR templates created by Kyle for other projects. A custom template was then created specifically for this project, as was an outline of the specific items that would be included in the final document. Both the template and outline were approved by BARR Advisory.
Upon BARR Advisory’s approval of the template and outline, a rough draft BCDR document was completed. This was reviewed by both BARR Advisory and 1102 Grand, and a final draft was completed and submitted with all requested revisions.
The Backup Continuity and Disaster Recovery document was completed and delivered on time and on budget. It was approved by the customer, and they provided positive feedback.
